Lapland’s Beautiful Nature

When we decided about the name of our company it was important not only to mention our dogs but also our close connection to the place we live and the beautiful nature around us.

Some weeks ago you already got the first impression of the berry season, now everything is full of blueberries and also lingonberries are almost ready.

Do you remember the young golden eagle πŸ¦… that lives in the area? Today after berry picking we saw him again. Not in the nest but flying through the forest. Very impressive how eagles manage to fly between narrow trees 🌲 unfortunately he was much too fast to make a picture πŸ“·

But another one was much more patient… a reindeer with great antlers stopped for us to be photographed πŸ˜‰

And a few days ago β€œour” moose mum and one year old moose child came for an evening visit…

Last but not least some photos of our dogs, showing there emotions short before start of the training run: 8 year old Lumene is fully concentrated and waits for the starting command while puppies Rafiki, Zazu and Mufasa as well as two year old Mose are really excited and let you see and hear this πŸ˜‚

Holiday Part 2

You are probably already waiting for the report of our second week of vacation… so, here you are πŸ˜‰

Of course, the water πŸ’¦ for the dog food kitchen was still a big part of the work. But finally all new pipes were in the ground and now our yard looks like a potato field πŸ₯” But who cares, soon it’s covered with snow ❄️ πŸ˜‚

But there were also some easy tasks this week, berry picking for example πŸ˜‹ the β€œGold of Lapland” – the cloudberries are ready as well as my favorite beside strawberries – the blueberries.

Our new grill kota is obviously an interesting place, within 5 days it was two times visited by a moose even if it’s only a few meters from the dogs πŸ• what is he doing there? Barbecue? πŸ₯“πŸ—πŸ”

On Friday I did a little journey to the Norwegian border to pick up our new family member β€œMose” – that means moss. Before that I did several phone calls because it’s still not so easy to enter Norway when you live in Norrbotten. But if the former owner or any other person brings the dog over the border you have to follow a lot of new and quite complicated rules. After all these calls it was still not sure if it will work but we decided to just try it. And in fact, the border was the smallest problem πŸ˜‰ Sometimes it seems to be better not to ask or think too much πŸ™ˆ

On the next day it was cold enough to do a short training run, so Mose could stretch out her legs after the journey. Now, it’s unfortunately again very hot πŸ₯΅ but in two days it will be better.

After all the work during the last two weeks we did a short hiking trip πŸ₯Ύ on Sunday, exploring a potential husky trekking trail. While we were walking we heard an eagle crying… and shortly after we found the nest with a young golden eagle πŸ¦… almost ready to fly out. What a nice end of the week 😊

Season has started

Yeah, winter is here and the season has started in a double sense… Aurora and sled season! What could be better?

A lot is happening now. Yesterday the work on the roof started. And they are so quick, almost all old material was taken away and one half was already protected against new rain or snow. We will add pictures of the results later on. But we promised our guests that they will see Northern Lights and indeed we got a really nice show in the evening. The pictures are still on the camera and will be added as soon as we have them on the computer.

Meanwhile we want to show you some pictures and videos from the very first sled ride of the season, including meeting eleven moose. If you zoom in one of the photos you may see one of them πŸ˜‰

Work in progress

You are probably already waiting for an update… so, here we are.

The last few days were a lot of work but we enjoy being at our new place. On Wednesday we picked up the poles for the free run and the bottom logs for the kennels from Ute TrΓ€ AB in Arvidsjaur. For this we had to rent a really big trailer – this time it was privately rent so without any problems πŸ˜‰ but Raffi had to drive two times because otherwise the load would have been too heavy. The really nice people from Ute TrΓ€ gave us the advice to ask somebody with a tractor to help unloading, but look how easy it goes…

In the afternoon our stuff from Germany arrived. About 50 boxes, a lot of working tools, my bike – yeah we can train πŸ˜‰ and also the kennel elements from the one cage that we had there. So, yesterday we quickly build up the kennel and now always some of the dogs can be in the kennel. Luna and Stella seemed to be very excited about it πŸ™‚ sorry for the bad quality of the picture but they were moving much too fast and today it’s raining, so no good opportunity to make a new one.

After that was done we drove to PiteΓ₯ to pick up a nice old cabinet and the first part of the material needed for building the dog houses.

Later and also today we continued to unpack the boxes, sort everything to the correct place and try to get some order… and again driving to the DIY store to buy the rest for the dog houses.

By the way, on Monday the moose hunting season starts. But we already had visitors in our backyard today. A little bit into the forest on the picture above there were really fresh moose and reindeer tracks. So, maybe better to wait with the training for some days. Not so funny to meet a moose with the bike and some dogs while hunters are around πŸ˜‰
