Equipment Recommendation
To enjoy a sled dog tour even when it’s cold it’s always good to have the right combination of clothes and equipment.
General Advice
To stay warm in cold temperatures the best is to dress yourself in the multi-layer principle.
It’s important that all layers of clothes are big enough to have isolating air between the different layers. That also applies to boots.
From our own experience we highly recommend wool as fabric, especially for the first layer. Also some synthetic fibers are made for the cold, but never take cotton. For the second layer there are now many good light weight jackets on the market, e.g. with down or primaloft as isolation.
When you pack your tour equipment it’s best to take a small back pack or sport bag. That’s more flexible to fit in the sled than bigger bags or suitcases. Please keep in mind that the dogs have to pull not only you and your equipment but also food and tour equipment. So, we would appreciate if your own tour equipment does not weigh more than 8kg. Of course, you can leave things that you don’t need on tour, in your room.
